The Society is open to all who enjoy reading, writing or hearing poetry. We meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, in Luton, at the Stockwood Golf Centre, LU1 4LX. Go to how to find us.Visiting poet readings alternate with informal evenings. Meetings are from 8 to 10 pm, but all are encouraged to arrive well before 8 to enjoy socialising in the comfortable bar. Visitors will find a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Meetings usually alternate between:
- A visiting poet reading from his/her own work. In the past, we have hosted Andrew Motion, Simon Armitage, Matthew Sweeney, Roger McGough, U A Fanthorpe and other acclaimed poets.
- An informal evening, with impromptu contributions of members' and other poems, often related to the topic chosen for the evening.
but occasionally we hold quizzes and host visiting groups.
