Other sites in Wiltshire
I have visited and photographed a few other places in Wiltshire of interest, but with too few photos to warrant their own pages. On this page you'll find photos of Bradbury Rings, Woodhenge and Uffington.
Bradbury Rings
This huge hill-fort is not far from Salisbury.
Woodhenge
Woodhenge is a precursor to Stonehenge and only a few miles away. It was made only of wood with an incredible number of columns spanning a long time frame. Only post-holes have been found and they have been filled with concrete to show the size and position of the original. They are also colour-coded to indicate the building phase.
Next to the site, when I was there, was this wonderful field full of poppies (these are all taken from the site).
Uffington
Here you can just make out the white horse at the end of the lighter green hill on the right. Beyond that, the darker green, is Uffington Castle, a hill fort.
Another angled shot of the white horse (which has progressed up the hill over the centuries), Uffington castle and the dragon mound at the left.
This is the head and magical eye of the white horse (I'm still convinced it's a dragon, though).
