Benefice Youth Worker!
It was summer 2007when we wrote to all members of our churches’ Electoral Rolls asking for financial commitments to fund a three year appointment of a full-time youth worker for when our trainee, Steve Pryor, left in June 2008. And the congregations committed to give sufficient funds for us to go ahead.
A small group of six church members, including the Rector and Vicar, started meeting to specify the job and advertise it. This led to a very exciting day interviewing three candidates in June 2008. The result was a unanimous decision to offer the post to Esther Bacon, who started work on 1st September 2008.
Esther is 28 and single, has a degree in Youth and Community Studies, and has worked in secular youth work for the past 6 years. She has lived in London for some while but her family home is in the Cotswolds. She has moved into 137 Cornish Road, Chippy and is already making a great impact. And don’t forget to ask her about Blogs, her dog!.
