Parish Rooms, Chipping Norton
We have a monthly Friday evening group for school years 4-6 (approximately aged 8-11) which they decided to call Cold Fish’n’Chips (don’t ask!). The older ‘tweens’ call themselves Hot Chocolate. They are school years 7-9. Bet you can’t guess what those over 14 have called themselves? They meet at Esther’s in Chipping Norton, every Sunday. As with everything we do, all of these are open to any in the parishes. Points of contact are on the Contacts page.
Benefice Youth Worker!
It was summer 2007 when we wrote to all members of our churches’ Electoral Rolls asking for financial commitments to fund a three year appointment of a full-time youth worker for when our trainee, Steve Pryor, left in June 2008. And the congregations committed to give sufficient funds for us to go ahead.
A small group of six church members, including the Rector and Vicar, started meeting to specify the job and advertise it. This led to a very exciting day interviewing three candidates in June 2008. The result was a unanimous decision to offer the post to Esther Bacon, who started work on 1st September 2008.
Esther is 30 and maried Jon Lockly on November 6th. She has a degree in Youth and Community Studies, and has worked in secular youth work for the past 6 years. She has lived in London for some while but her family home is in the Cotswolds. She and Jon live at 137, Conish Road, Chipping Norton. And don’t forget to ask her about Blogs, her dog!.
Esther is passionate about people and passionate about bringing the good news of God’s love to them and teaching them the Bible
