Round The World
28th September 2001 - 23rd March 2002
Introduction
Having, yet again, got bored and stressed out at work, I decided that it was time to "run away". I handed in my notice at work (3 month's worth!) and started the familiar task of preparing for a trip. As usual I ended up preparing for my last trip (West Africa), which meant that I brought along things that were missing then, but turned out not to be needed for the up and coming one.
I chose the Dragoman trip from the UK to Kathmandu, as it offered a good start at a Round The World jaunt. I also booked an Air Nepal flight from Kathmandu to Bangkok, as the first part of the rest of the travels, and reckoned that I'd just make it up from there on.

I was in my last week at work, when I got a call from a colleague that a plane had been flown into a building in America. My first thoughts were that it was a little single engined Cessna, and went back to work. Over the next hour it became clear exactly what had happened. I, like most, left work early that day, stunned.
Ringing Dragoman the next day, I was told that the trip was still on, although the route might have to be modified, depending upon what happened next.
