The beaches and coastal paths of Ventnor are 1 1/2 miles away and the resort of Shanklin 3 miles. One of the Islands top attractions Appuldercombe house situated in gardens designed by Capability Brown are only a 20 minute walk away, together with the owl and falconry centre.

Within 200 yards is the Wroxall to Shanklin cycle track which also links from Sandown to Newport the Island capital, as this is a disused railway line, the track is almost flat.

Some of the most beautiful walks on the Island are close by, including a pathway to the top of St Martins down, where stunning panoramic views along the coast to Shanklin, Sandown and beyond can be enjoyed and the cottage is close to both the Worsely trail and the Stenbury trail.

Malmesbury cottage was constructed in 1870 as a railway cottage from Island stone which was excavated from the, now closed, Wroxall to Ventnor railway line tunnel, former cottage occupants include Les Dennis the TV celebrity.
