Who is Sylvia Wright?

She is a dynamic Yorkshire woman who has worked in Southern India since 1982.

Having disposed of all her worldly possessions she took to India her skills and experience as a nurse, midwife, health visitor and lecturer, also her enormous spiritual strength.

She started with a mobile clinic and in 1985 she acquired her first hospital.

In 1996 she built a school for deaf children.

In 1999 she opened the Vocational Training Centre.

She opened a new hospital in 2002.

What is the Sylvia Wright Trust?

The Trust exists solely to raise funds to make Sylvia's work possible.

It provides all the running costs for the School for the Deaf and the Vocational Training Centre.

It contributes 45% towards the running costs of the Hospital. The rest is raised by a very modest charge to patients.

It provides all capital costs for the Hospital, School and Vocational Training Centre.

96% of all funds raised by the trust goes to India.
