Sponsored Slim - If you'd like to lose a few pounds and help raise money for the club, please join our slimmer's. Between them they hope to lose the weight of one average rower (about 12 stone apparently) before Christmas. First weigh in meeting will be on Monday 1st Sept at 8:00 in The Legion. The group aims to encourage each other and share ideas and tips. Please see Kelly or Susie for more details.

Isle of Scilly World Championships 2009 - We are currently planning next years event and would like to emphasis to people who are interested in going that you'll probably need to book your accommodation now. We intend taking both Wooden racing boats and will enter both boats in all races (Men's, Ladies, Men's Vets and Ladies Vets). We may be able to borrow another boat for both the Ladies races if we have enough people, but unfortunately it is unlikely for the men's races. Crew selection will be done nearer the time and Tess is getting a group of people together to decide how selection will be done for this event.

Isle of Scilly Accommodation - The club has reserved a number of places at the Garrison camp site on St. Mary's. If you would like any of these please let Geoff Lewing know. Also Nick Bathhurst and Richard Watts both have B&B accommodation booked which they no longer need. Please see them for details.

Crew selection - With the temporary departure of Steve, crew selection is currently done by Jeff and John for the Men, and Steph and Laraine for the women. If anyone feels they would like to volunteer to take up Steve's position of head coach please let Jeff know. It will involve leading a small selection sub-committee, assessing rowers capabilities, selecting crews, reporting back to main committee, communicating to all rowers and helping to organise training sessions.

Committee Meetings - We're often asked what goes on at our committee meetings. Well, we simply aim to deal with the many day-to-day events that present themselves for our attention and discuss the long-term strategic plans for the club. The regular topics are Finance, Grant Funding, Fund Raising Events, Regattas and Races, Health and Safety, Training, Gig and Equipment Maintenance, Crew Selection and AOB. We also discuss our long-term projects such as finding a permanent home for the club and oganising our own regatta etc.
Although these meetings are called committee meetings, we feel they should be open to all members who'd like to contribute to the effective running of the club. Therefore, if you're a member and you'd like to come along please let Jeff or Richard know and we'll let you know when and where the next meeting is taking place. Members can obtain a copy of the previous minutes from Richard.
