Edwards and
Robertson
Company
set up by Frederick Edwards and George Robertson. Edwards was from a
Cardiff tug owning family, Robertson had been previously employed in
the railways. They went to Scottish builders for new tonnage to
compete with the P and A Campbell company, ordering the unsuccessful
Lady Gwendoline in 1889 and the much more satisfactory Lorna Doone in
1891. In 1895 they operated a new Lady Margaret on behalf of
Penarth-based interests. The company also owned second hand tonnage
in the form of Lady Margaret (renamed Lord Tredegar in 1895), Bonnie
Doon and Scotia.
Financial problems forced the company to sell the new Lady Margaret
to P and A Campbell, and after the 1895 season, the entire business
and remaining steamers were sold to John Gunn, the Cardiff
businessman
