Medway Steam Packet Co Ltd
Formed in 1881 in succession to a company operating a ferry service on the Medway between Chatham and Sheerness. originally operating three elderly steamers, Princess of Wales was added new in 1896 and a second City of Rochester in 1904. These two vessels were operating a Medway service when requisitioned at the outbreak of World War I. After the war, the two vessels reappeared for the New Medway Steam Packet Company.
