Paddle Steamer Pyongyang I at the North Korean capital city. Photo from the Olivier Bachmann collection, with thanks
On first inspection one could be forgiven for thinking that the above
photos were taken somehere between Dresden and Magdeburg on the Elbe - but this
paddler is in North Korea. It is built to a design based on the Elbe paddlers,
with the isolationist communist state taking help from the former German Democratic
Republic when it came to building a vessel for charter excursions on the river
Taedong.
