Stadt Wien and her
1940 sister Stadt Passau were the mainstay of overnight cruises along
the Danube from Vienna in Austria to Passau in Germany until their
owners the DDSG (Erste Donau Dampfschiffahrts-Gesellschaft) went out
of business in 1995. Stadt Wien was bought by the Mayor of Tulln and
underwent considerable internal refurbishment for service as a
restaurant, also providing overnight accommodation at Tulln with cruising on summer Saturdays, offering a full day
trip from Tulln to Aggstein and return through the Wachau Valley.
For 2009
it was announced that Stadt Wien would no longer operate scheduled servoces
from Tulln into the Wachau valley,but three cruises were advertised for June
and other dates in June offered as available for private charters
