75th Anniversary Baton Walk
We are inviting all Groups to take part in the 75th Anniversary baton walk next year. The baton walk will start with a walk in the South West in January and end with a walk in the South East of England in December. In between we hope that as many Groups as possible will take part as the baton goes on a passage from south west England, through Wales, looping through Scotland and back to the south east of England - passing through the nine English regions on the way. The baton won't directly be passed from group to group - the emphasis is on its passage through Britain. We're not asking anything special - just to take the baton on a Group walk, and take a photo and send it to us, labeling the walk in Walks Finder as 75th anniversary. These will be put on a special 75th Anniversary website. For more details see the new volunteering news on our website. All groups will shortly receive a 75th Anniversary Baton Walk pack which will contain a baton, template press release, an interview brief, walking information sheets, poster blanks and template materials.
We will be delighted to hear from you about your ideas to take part in the celebration of 75 years. This is an excellent opportunity to highlight the important work that Ramblers volunteers do for their community. It is a chance to recruit new members. There are lots of other ways to get involved such as contributing to a special edition of "Walk" magazine by letting us know of of a volunteer who has done sterling work for the organistion or giving details of a walk that highlights access problems for example.
Please Let Mary Gough, 75th Anniversary Project Volunteer, know your plans by sending them to 75anniversary@ramblers.org.uk.
