Access to open countryside
This new legal right for access on foot to open country was provided by The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, and applies only to certain areas of uncultivated open country, namely mountain, moor, heath, down and registered common land. Access Land is shown on the new OS Explorer maps and may be indicated on the ground by this sign.

Davidstow Parish
Has it's own website which contains information about local environmental issues including a section about the proposed windfarm, information about transport links and a very useful section about walking in the area.
Walks Around Grampound
For details of some walks around the ancient township of Grampound. Walks leaflets are available as a pdf download.
Public Rights of Way Mapping site
This super link recommended by Graham Ronan and Jill Goodman gives you the footpath number from the definitive map. Very handy for anyone who needs to identify accurately a footpath.

Follow the on screen directions for a map showing the area and path you want.
To get the path and parish numbers for a particular path you have on screen click the INFO button in the lefthand panel and then click on the path in question the path and parish number will be displayed in a box immediately below the map.
Directions for printing the map are found by clicking on the PRINT button in the lefthand panel but you need to make your own note of the numbers as these will not be on the print
The Dartmoor Preservation Association's
web site is worth a visit. The site lists led walks on the moors, firing notices as well as some very good walks links. The recommendation came from Area Committee. I've checked it out and it is very useful if you are planning to walk on Dartmoor. (Ann Curtis-Clarke)

A huge site which has detailed descriptions of walks in all regions. Impressive and would definitely be useful if new to an area or on holiday. South west coast path association

National Trails
National trails - the official site. A good starting point for National Trails - includes statistics and contacts.
Bodmin Moor
