RUNNING BOARDS

The rear brakes, have at best been  adequate. all of the foot pegs are to be removed, so its time to sort brakes... the main problem (apart from still having beetle brakes!) is the length of the lever from the pivot point to the cylinder rod. i hope to adjust angle of cylinder and re drill the pivot.

To gain enough strength for a single middle support ( The beetle tunnell would just bend with a single support welded to it) i decided to mount the box tube through the tunnell from one side to the other, i marked the tube position & chain drilled the hole both sides

The end of the tube is closed & welded

Toni works hard to strip the paint off the tank 

its given a anti rust coat & primed

The brakes are sorted, the mount hole is now approx 30% closer to the pivot, this is equilivent to the pedal being 30% longer!! as you can see, its all coming together. still got to fit the outside support bars. The front has been redesigned for a comfortable foot position

i found the master cylinder rod end too big & not fitting correctly. The taper has been reduced in size & the end rounded off

Sunday 1/8/04 Running boards have been made & trimmed to fit, new headlamp fitted
