'Annie' a tremendous success for Trinity Players

Our recent musical production, 'Annie' presented back in June 2008 at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall has been heralded as an outstanding success. Not only did we sell a staggering 97% of tickets but we also received lots of very appreciated positive feedback from our wonderful audiences and critics.

We have recently received two reviews, one from NODA and the other from BFAME, which both comment on how well the cast all worked together to produce a wonderful evening's entertainment.

"A very competent supportive set of principals completed a most entertaining evening"

"The six named principals and in particular the chorus numbers all enhanced the show".

"Helen Gilfoyle's performance as Miss Hannigan was a joy to watch".

"Marie Hendry as Grace Farrell together with Steven Blower and Philip Beadsmoore as Drake and Oliver Warbucks, certainly made Annie feel at home in the mansion."

So a huge well done to everyone who was involved in 'Annie' and now it's onwards to our next production, 'My Friend Miss Flint', which will be performed at Sutton Arts Theatre during the 15th-20th September 2008.

Trinity Players Announces Its Next Production
'My Friend Miss Flint'

Following the tremendous success of its musical 'Annie', Trinity Players is quick off the mark with announcing its next production, which will be performed at Sutton Arts Theatre during the 15th-20th September 2008.

After taking a lead role in 'Annie' as Mr Oliver Warbucks, Phil Beadsmoore is now turning his hand to production with his first play, 'My Friend Miss Flint'. The play, by Donald Churchill and Peter Yeldham is a hilarious comedy about a TV presenter called Tom, who awakes after a heavy night with a thick head. Things go from bad to worse thanks to the appearance of a one night stand, his ex-wife, a fictitious employee, a multi-faceted cleaner and a tax inspector.

The play, which is set in a modern period, is an enjoyable and entertaining comedy, full of twists and turns that will have audiences rolling in their seats with laughter.

The play has now been cast and the 3 men and 3 women who successfully auditioned for the parts are now deep in rehearsals. Full details of nthe cast will appear shortly.

NODA Nomination for 'A Bird In The Hand'

2007 has continued to have been an outstanding year for Trinity Players. Not only did 'Sweet Charity' gain three awards but we were also nominated for a NODA award for the play, 'A Bird In The Hand', which was performed in September 2007. The nomination was for the Best Regional Production Award For Best Drama 2007 and was a thoroughly well deserved credit to a great cast.

B.F.A.M.E. Awards for 'Sweet Charity'

Leigh-ann with awards

2007 has proved to be an outstanding year for Trinity Players which has seen us sweep up a trio of top trophies at the recent Birmingham Festival of Acting & Musical Entertainment, (B.F.A.M.E.), awards.

Nominated in five categories we walked away with an incredible three prestigious trophies for our fantastic production of ‘Sweet Charity’, directed by Ann Dempsey and performed at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall in the summer of 2007.  Such success is testament to the hard work and dedication of the cast and crew of our award winning society.

The awards included ‘The Roy Marshall Cup for Best Musical Achievement’, which was given to Helen Smith for her role as Musical Director of ‘Sweet Charity’.  Leigh-Ann McFarlane gave a breathtakingly stunning performance in her portrayal of Charity Hope Valentine and was absolutely thrilled to receive ‘The Phil Grove Cup for Most Outstanding Female Performance’.  Those that saw the show will agree that it was a fantastic feast of theatrical magnificence that wowed audiences out of their seats and into a standing ovation so Trinity Players is thrilled and honoured to receive ‘The John Daniels Trophy for Full Length Musical’ for 'Sweet Charity'.

We are keen to repeat our success at the next awards and are currently working hard on our 2008 production, ‘Annie’, which will be performed at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall from 10-14 June 2008.
