Email Newsletter from Alastair Ramsay

No: 09/09 –11thth December 2009

Club Website: - Tonbridge-flyers.co.uk

Hello fellow flyers,

Important Notice!

This, my final Newsletter for 2009, is aimed mainly at confirming the notable issues covered at the club AGM on 7th December.  I would also like to urge you to renew your subscriptions by sending the appropriate fee to our Treasurer by 31st December.   His address is: 3 Amberley Close, Tonbridge, Kent. TN9 2UH.  The subscription fees are shown on the attached renewal form which has been updated to include the figures approved at the AGM.  You may wish to print this and send it with your cheque.

The AGM was attended by only 21 members out of a total of 71.

Our Chairman, Tony Leigh retired from office and was replaced by Keith Miller.  All other members of the committee were re-elected for a further year.  The committee for 2010 is therefore as follows:

Chair                                      -Keith Miller

Treasurer                             -Adrian Smith

Secretary                              -Alastair Ramsay

Silent Flight Secretary      -Simon Smith

Safety Officer                       -Gordon Ryan

In addition to the above posts, Alan Goddard agreed to continue the role of Webmaster and Keith Fisher agreed to continue as our representative at Kent Interclub meetings.

The meeting discussed the number and timing of the Interclub and Open Competitions to be held during the summer of 2010 at Leigh Park Farm.  It was agreed that 5 such meetings should be scheduled.  The farmer will not allow large competitions until June when the grass has been cut and the ground has firmed up.  Competition dates would therefore be scheduled at one per month from June until October.

Competition results for 2009 were reported by the Secretary and the appropriate trophies presented to those winners who were present at the meeting.  I will not repeat the results here but they can be found on the club website under ‘Competitions’.

The AGM also approved the minor changes to the Club Rules/Constitution which were circulated to you in the last newsletter.  It was agreed that the Secretary will update the Club Members Handbook to reflect these and any other changes, ready to issue new version of the handbook to all members at the time of membership renewal.

Some concern was raised as to the effect which the A21 road widening project would have on our access to the Power flying site.  Derek Courtney undertook to review the plans for this work when they became available and report back to the committee.

Simon Smith raised the prospect of re-instituting the annual end-of-year dinner which the club held in past years.  The idea was approved and Simon agreed to try to organise such an event for early in the new year.

Club membership subscriptions for 2010, including the BMFA element were confirmed by the meeting as:

Dual Site Senior                  £35 + £29BMFA                   =£64

Dual Site Junior                  ££17.50 +£15 BMFA           =£32.50
