On Wednesday the 10th August we went down to Simon and Carolines House at Elmer. Many of the usual crowd were there, although all the younger people seemed to have grown and developed astonishingly (to us) in just 1 year!
We sat in the garden in the sunshine, although it was quite windy and chattered with the other adults. We had lunch in the garden and then Don and I went round to the Hewitt-Hicks to watch some of the Test Match, which had started that day.
At about 3.30pm we wandered round to the Croydon's house, where we were all served tea and cake (Agnes had made a carrot cake as usual). After the tea, a handball game started in the garden and got quite competitive. After one game, some of the parents took on the youth.
We went back to Carolines where Katherine had prepared a very nice supper of chicken rolled in bacon plus beans and marrow from Richard, followed by a lemon tart.
It had been decided that they would join the quiz game at the pub, so Agnes and I took our leave and gave a lift to Don to his B and B. A really lovely friendly and chatty day. |
