Farnborough

<
For my birthday Jane and Geoff gave me two tickets for the Sunday Farnborough Airshow.

We debated for some time on how to get there; face the traffic and go by car, or go by train. I had a bad leg and so neither of us could walk very far. In the end we decided to park in Guildford, catch a train to North Camp (Farnborough) station and then get on the free shuttle bus provided. This worked very well

Because of my leg I wasn't able to spend time looking in the exhibition halls and the static aircraft display - although I did look at some. We found a space by the fence near the runway and put down a rug and a folding chair that Helen had given me years ago and settled down to watch the display.

We watched just over half the display. The day started dull but the clouds cleared just as the Red Arrows began and it turned out quite hot - a bit too much for Agnes in the end. We saw some good displays and as we were going back to the bus there were flights of hurricanes, spitfires and a single example of my old friend the Lancaster.

Really a lovely day, and the return journey was just as easy.
