[Wisley]

Agnes and I went to Wisley Gardens on the 14th October for an outing.

There was plenty of space in the car park nearest to the entrance, so that saved us some walking! First stop was the glasshouse restaurent where we had some delicious home-made leek and potato soup. I also saw that they had bread pudding (not the usual bread and butter pudding) and couldn't resist a piece - Agnes had chocolate cake.

After a leisurely lunch, and enjoying watching the curiosity of young children (nothing is impossible until youv'e tried it!) we went into the huge glasshouse. The exhibition in the side hall was of Guernsey Lillies in a variety of colours. The plants in the rest of the glasshouse don't change but of course there are different colours at different times of the year.

From the glasshouse we went past the model gardens and up Battleston Hill to the trial beds. Here they had a lovely show of Dahlias. From there we walked down to where the herbaceous borders were and then to the plant centre. We had brought a couple of apples with us because we wanted our tree indentified but unfortunately they closed that section at 3.30pm.

Finally we went to the shop cafe and had a cuppa - I stayed there while Agnes wandered round the shop.
