Chris Hamblin Caller :: Vivienne Hamblin
Twin Arts Barn Dance Band calls dances to traditional music, including reels, jigs, hornpipes, polkas, waltzes. Dances include Stately Dance Forms, Circles, Lines, Farandoles, Waltzes, Polkas and, if needed, some simple dances more aimed at children.
Special arrangements of "First Dances" can be made for Weddings with Country Dances.
Vivienne Hamblin :: Caller
Calls dances which come from the folk tradition that aim to celebrate community with the joy of dance. She is a choreographer and dance teacher and was the founding director of Dance People in Zimbabwe in 1989. In UK since 2002 she has been teaching dance in schools and more recently with "Moving Words" a project based at Chisenhale Dance Studio in Tower Hamlets.
Chris Hamblin :: Fiddle, Mandolin, & Bodhran
A fiddle player with a driving Celtic style, who has featured as a soloist in Celtic Music Festivals throughout Italy, touring Switzerland, Spain with Gruppo Folkloriquo Whisky Trail, he even appeared as part of an art installation in Milan & Zurich.
Chris has created many scores and live performances for contemporary dance and in 1989 was a founder member in Zimbabwe of the Elastic Band, a band praised in the Harare International Festival of the Arts 2000 for their "devastating violin music!!". Since 2002 he has lived in St Leonards-on-Sea and has built a thriving music teaching practice there. Celtic String Band was formed in 2003 with Guitarist Adrian Underhill and he plays with The Good Squeeze and Irish music sessions at Royal Oak, Whatlington. Currently playing with an ultra celtic band called Fiddle Pipe & Drum, featuring the spell-binding sounds of Uillean Piper Ian Graham with Charlie Gask on Bodhran, also Tolka Polkas a group featuring Paul Dengate (Guitar) Jo Barnes (Flute) & Charlie Gask.
Twin Arts Barn Dance Band provides a small group of excellent musicians from the Hastings area who share a common repertory of tunes for dance, led by Chris Hamblin, an MU member with Public Liability Insurance and a Yamaha PA with a current PAT certificate.
