Technical Facts and Figures

  • Tyresafe is a water-based solution containing specially treated particles of rubber, rust inhibitors, preservatives and gums held in a high viscosity suspension.
  • Tyresafe is suitable for all types of vehicles with pneumatic tyres, including: cars, vans, lorries and trucks, road haulage vehicles, military vehicles, on/off road vehicles, earth moving and construction plant, agricultural tractors and machinery, trailers, caravans and trolleys, motorbikes, bicycles, and lawnmowers.
  • Tyresafe seals holes of up to 6mm in road tyres (10mm for commercial), and up to 15mm in off road commercial situations.
  • Tyresafe does not cause wheel imbalance or reduce handling performance at speeds up to 150mph (240kph).
  • Tyresafe will not rust wheels or damage the steel belts inside tyres.
  • Tyresafe will not dry out.
  • Tyresafe will not freeze at temperatures of -40°C and remains effective at temperatures in excess of +90°C.
  • Tyresafe is non-flammable, and safe for air transportation.
  • Tyresafe is legally classified as non-toxic and non-hazardous. It soes not require EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) classification, and complies with all TSCA (Toxic Substance Control Authority) requirements.
  • Tyresafe is biodegradable, and presents no problems in disposal before or after use. It flushes out with water, with no residual stickiness or compound remaining inside the tyre.
  • Tyresafe is easy to install. One of our trained installers can put it into all four tyres of an average car in just 15 minutes. The wheels remain on the car throughout, with the tyres inflated.

Tyresafe is tested and approved

Ministry of Defence Test
In November 2000, Tyresafe passed a Ministry of Defence ballistic test. The aim of the trial was to assess the ability of Tyresafe in two main areas:

a.

To maintain tyre integrity to allow escape from an enemy engagement after the tyres were engaged with small arms fire.

b.

To determine if the Tyresafe system was effective in maintaining the serviceability, on in-service tyres for more than two battlefield days, after a number of punctures.

The conclusions of the trial were:

1.

Operational use - the tyres were engaged with small arms fire through the tread and the sidewall. Tyresafe maintained the integrity of the tyres so that escape from the area, to a distance in excess of 11km, was achieved. After inspection, 97% of tyre pressure remained and after re-inflation a further battlefield day could be achieved with no further maintenance or deterioration.

2.

General use - Tyresafe is very effective at maintaining the servicability of the tyre after punctures had occurred. Immediately after puncturing the tyre no more than 5% of tyre pressure was lost. After re-inflaton and driving for extended periods, there was no loss of pressure other than the fluctuations due to temperature that were reflected in the non-treated tyres.

3.

For non-treated tyres with punctures in the tread are and sidewall, Tyresafe was able to seal punctures quickly and allowed immediate use after re-inflation.

4.

There was no difference in the handling performance of the tyre fitted with Tyresafe compared to those without.

Speed and Endurance Tests

•

Tyresafe has been speed tested and subjected to a continuous 25,000 mile test at a constant 70mph by RAPRA Technology Ltd., Europe's leading plastics and rubber consultancy.

25,000 mile/40,233km test at a constant 70mph/113kph

•

Tyre punctured at start of test and retained the correct inflation pressure throughout.

S rated tyre speed test at 106mph/171kph

•

Tyre punctured at start of test and performed effectively as a tyre sealant throughout.

V rated tyre speed test at 144mph/232kph

•

Tyre punctured at start of test and performed effectively as a tyre sealant throughout.

BSAU 159(f) - British Standard for repairs to tyres for motor vehicles on the public highway

•

The previously punctured tyre which had successfully completed the 25,000 mile test was inflated to 176 PSI, which is four times the maximum recommended pressure for the tyre. The tyre withstood the test and remained inflated with no visible signs of failure occurring.
