Explorative electronics avant-gardist (ex-Cluster & Eno guest/collaborator, and Liliental member with Moebius & Plank), you'll get from that a good indication of the music he created in the early days: synth based, but unusual (hints of The Residents, ZNR, Cluster, etc.) and quite playful on his Sky LP's.

These cassette-only releases date from the Sky era, but explored darker realms that it would seem were deemed too weird for LP release. Although radical the "Musik..." releases do often have a melodic focus, using concrete sound, percussives, loops, along with synths, akin to early 80's electronic albums of Peter Frohmader or Conrad Schnitzler, and on "Musik Im Schatten" he gets all the more surreal hinting at Soviet France, Dome, or Cranioclast.

Note: there were plans to reissue these and MUSIK UNTER TAGE (from 1983) out on Cosmic Egg. However, Asmus required that we advance him the royalties due on 500 copies of each album before he would release the new masters to us. As we never had the finances available, and that I would be reluctant to pay for something upfront before having chance to approve the master, we came to a stalemate on this. This is unfortunate, as these are amongst Asmus' best ever works in our opinions, and it means that when the current stocks of cassette copies are sold-out these will be deleted.
