Character Profile - Baroness Jacqueline
de Wente Who is she? Baroness Jacqueline de Wente is the newly appointed Government Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice (formerly part of the Home Office) and makes her debut sticking her nose in where it is not wanted during the events of 'Liverpool Street' before really making an infamous name for herself in 'Marylebone'. Characterisations: She is one of these modern politicians that seem to live in an ivory tower where the world is governed by strategic thinking and mission statements, has an extraordinary ability for sticking her foot right in it and like most politicians has not got a clue about the real world. Inspired by: Many of the recent female cabinet ministers in the UK Government (the most useless of which were thankfully booted out when Gordon Brown took over as the Prime Minister!) who quite frankly looked out of their depth in a puddle and usually came to pieces whenever they were interviewed on Radio 4. Known Associates: Initially she seems to appear as an isolated character but all that changes in the last few lines of 'Liverpool Street'.... |
