There was no doubting
that crime; particularly violent crime was on the increase.
Such was the international concern that the United Nations held a summit on
the matter at which the most radical crime-fighting proposal ever considered, was put
forward.
From that proposal
emerged the Department of National Security & Civil Defence. The largest crime fighting body ever assembled. In the United Kingdom, it was to amass the
combined resources and experience of the Police, Intelligence Services, Customs &
Excise and other relevant operational sectors.
Divided into operation
divisions, the 'Security Department' as it has been known for its fifteen-year history,
has achieved a number of significant successes since its inception, although not without
some objection from some sections of higher authorities.
The operations area of
South East Wessex is a case in point. Despite
a major incident involving its first group of newly appointed officers, it has grown from
strength to strength achieving what many saw as impossible just a few years ago.
The South East Wessex
Division has a massive staff available, based in the county city of Haychester. This is the story of just a few of those
dedicated (and some not so dedicated) persons. |
