Episode IX
LEWISHAM
Lewisham is the ninth novel in the
ongoing Security Novel series and in a change of approach, it partly takes the reader back
to the Commander's early years when he was barely twelve years old growing up in the East
End of London around the underworld criminal fraternity and the illegal pub poker circuit,
elements that thus far in the series have been hinted at.
Much of the story circulates around and retells
in great detail the events surrounding the Lewisham Diamond Heist which has been mentioned
in passing in the series up until now. Now for the first time we find out what
really happened from the point of the view of both the present day and in the past through
flashback.
Background:
London 1969 - The British Government is in
financial crisis and so in an attempt to stabilise the economy, invests in over £35
million of diamonds which it deposits at a secure facility in Lewisham in East London.
However on Friday March 7th 1969, they were to dramatically disappear and almost
thirty years later as the true facts are revealed, the Commander wants a word with some
people who would rather not discuss the matter and go to great lengths to protect
themselves.
