Location Profile:
BOW STREET |

 |
Bow Street runs down the east side of Covent Garden around the
back of the Royal Opera House and towards the Theatreland area of Leicester Square. |
| It's most famous feature though is the world famous former Bow
Street Magistrate's Court that closed in 2006 after many years of use. Over the
years it saw all sorts of people in the dock from Oscar Wilde to Abu Hamza (the chap with
the hook!) the Kray Twins, General Pinochet and Dr Crippen. That would make an
interesting gathering around a dinner table..... |

 |
The Magistrates Court at the north end of this building is only
part of the site, the rest being the former Bow Street Police Station, the first Police
Station ever established and once home to the famous Bow Street Runners (one of which was
apparently a distant relative of mine I have just been told!) |
| This famous building has now been sold off for conversion into
something or other but will apparently retain its original historic court room and other
features. More about the Magistrates Court and adjacent
Police Station can be found HERE
on Wikipedia. |
