Britain's busiest railway station, Clapham Junction in South London provides the chaotic backdrop to one of the exciting concluding scenes in the novel. |
| The station is during the rush hour served by a train departing or
arriving on average every five seconds from any one of the 16 platforms (Numbered from 2 to
17, there is no Number 1!). It is slap bang in the middle of the morning rush hour that the Commander duly brings chaos naturally! The station serves the South Western lines to Waterloo and the South Central lines to Victoria as well as 'Kenny Belle' links to Kensington Olympia and Watford Junction. |

In between the two main halves of the station lies the rail yard.
In Moor Park, the Commander is forced onto the tracks here and has to pursue his
quarry across the sidings area. The stored old style slam door train that features in this scene is in fact visible in the picture on the left just above the GB Railfreight locomotive in the middle distance. |
