| Down Street does have one interesting (and in terms of the story
line I am writing, crucial) feature. The building style should look familiar as this
is the now long since closed Down Street Station. This
was a Piccadilly Line station situated almost half way between Green Park (then called
Dover Street) and Hyde Park Corner. However its proximity to these other two
stations meant it saw little passenger traffic and it was closed by 1938.
The surface building seen here still survives as do the lower
levels (glimpses of which can be seen from a passing train). |
