Immediately outside the south entrance of Embankment station is a key location to the story thread, Embankment Pier and the adjacent river side.
Embankment pier lies in the shadow of the bridge that takes the South Eastern mainline rail lines into Charing Cross Station.

The pier itself not only serves private boat traffic but also the regular river ferry services that run up and down the Thames.

I have to admit that I have not actually been on a river ferry service yet as I have a little problem with boats but at some point it looks like I am going to have to take the plunge (hopefully not literally!)

Numerous well know landmarks are visible from the Embankment including the London Eye and Westminster

Above is the Embankment Cafe in front of Victoria Gardens which is located on the north side of the Victoria Embankment road.

I have put together a couple of scenes set both inside and outside this location!   Plus they do a good cup of tea as well.....

Above left is one of the features of the Embankment, Cleopatra's Needle.  This is a genuine Egyptian obelisk that was brought to London in the nineteenth century but dates back to 1500BC.

The Golden Jubilee Bridge opened in 2002 is in fact a pair of foot bridges that cross the Thames either side of the main Charing Cross rail bridge and replaced an old walkway that has appeared in several films in the past (Any scene with someone walking on a bridge with Southern Region trains passing by alongside was filmed on the old bridge)

The steps up to the east side bridge are immediately outside the south entrance to Embankment Underground Station (turn left as you exit, you can not miss it) and is one location that appears in the dramatic closing scenes of the novel.
