| Epping was not always the end of the line however.
Until 1994, the rural single line branch to Ongar used to continue north of
here at peak hours only. The service passed
through the heart of the Epping Forest and served virtually nowhere, all
facts that led to its eventual closure.
The tracks are still in situ as seen here. The
Ongar line itself is on the right, the track on the left is a disused
reversing siding. |
