MARYLEBONE

'Take a trip to Marylebone Station...' says the Chance card in Monopoly and that is exactly what I did as part of some research for the twelfth novel of the same name.  Prior to the novel of the same name.
The series has been here briefly before on a couple of occasions.

The Station segment has both Underground and Main Line rail services, the former being served by the Bakerloo Line.

The concourse of the main line railway station above suggests a grander station than can be found today.
In fact Marylebone is the smallest major main line terminal in the City but fortunately it retains much of its original Great Central Railway architecture.
Indeed Marylebone Station is a far better looking station than some of the nasty commercialised concrete monstrosities to be found in London such as Euston.

The Marylebone Road is one of the busiest thoroughfares in the City leading from the western perimeter of Greater London into the busy Euston Road past the likes of Baker Street.
In Marylebone Road, not far from the Station is the Westminster Council building and to the right the Public Library.
The Marylebone Road is little more than a busy dual carriageway with a seemingly never ending line of traffic light controlled junctions.
This junction where Marylebone Road meets Upper Montagu Street plays an important role in the twelfth novel in the series.
Another view of the Upper Montagu Street junction as seen from outside the Public Library and Westminster Town Hall.
