Location Profile: MILE END |

Mile End, where the eastern arm of the Central Line on the outer
two platforms, nearly reaches the surface and meets the sub-surface District and
Hammersmith & City Lines. Its pillars that run up and down the centre of the platforms play a crucial part however in the story as the Commander follows a group of suspects down into the station and has to observe them from behind one of them. |

| As I was travelling there I was trying to write this
piece in my mind and say something positive but when I got their I realised it really is a
desolate pit of oblivion. No wonder they have so many people jumping in front of
trains here! It really is a dingy depressing station despite the best efforts made by the architect of the tired looking entrance on the Mile End Road itself shown above left. Oddly enough this fairly imposing entrance leads down to an extraordinarily pokey ticket office area. |
