Information and Coming Events

We have to date several hundred scanned images; they include maps; sale posters; receipts; newspaper cuttings; poetry, more than 1200 photos and various other documents to do with our area, this we have accumulated by asking people of the area for loan of photos and documents for a short period, these were then scanned and added to our digital collection. The majority of which have been printed and displayed at our Open Days. We are very grateful to all who have contributed photos, documents and information; it is through their generosity that we have been successful as a Society. We are interested in gathering information of all aspects of life in our area, farms; inns and public houses, private houses and the people who lived in them, Meigan Fair held in Eglwyswrw every November where farm animals were sold was known throughout the land, we haven’t been able to find any photographs even though a professional photographer was in attendance at times it was said. We have information on Churches and Chapels; we have recently collected information on cemeteries. We have Monumental Inscriptions from the gravestones at Bethabara, Baptist Chapel; Penygroes Independent Chapel; and St Cristiolus Church, Eglwyswrw, We hope in time to have M.I’s for all Cemeteries in our area. We have a special interest, - life in the area during the war years, and especially of those who served in the forces during that time. If anyone has any old photos of the area or any history of Eglwyswrw or of the surrounding area that you are willing to share with us, we would be grateful if you could contact us, and if we can help anyone who is interested in our area we will do so.
