Ffynnon
Fair at Tyddyn Castell, Eglwyswrw,
Ffynnon Fair ( Mary’s Well )is the lovely renovated
barn in the grounds of Tyddyn Castell, a traditional 17th century Welsh
farmhouse in the heart of the rural village of Eglwyswrw.
This gorgeous tip-top-of-the-range-comfortable holiday
barn for a couple makes the perfect romantic escape, or simply a restful
place to come and enjoy the extensive pleasures of the Pembrokeshire coast.
Once a simple cowshed, it is now beautifully furnished, properly equipped,
and with a bedroom and bathroom which wouldn’t look out of place
in a top boutique hotel. All on one level, it is ideally suited for wheelchair
users or those who are less mobile. Ffynnon Fair overlooks an extensive
garden, with lawns, streams, orchard, vegetable plot, landscaped banks
and private woodland. The highlight is the pond, surrounded by native
wild flowers and fed by the ancient sacred well of Ffynnon Fair (Mary’s
Well). One infant and one well-behaved dog are welcome.
The bedroom has an enormous, luxurious super-king bed with a headboard
covered in a lovely weave from the renowned Melin Tregwynt woollen mill.
The bathroom is super-luxurious, with a wonderful contemporary bath, a
huge wet-room shower, stylish fittings, fluffy towels and bath robes;
and the kitchen, painted in a pretty, restful grey-blue, is superbly fitted
out with everything needed for self-catering. The cosy sitting area, at
the other end of the spacious open-plan living area, has two sofas (one
each!) facing a first-rate wood burner. The cottage looks out via generous
