Welcome to Tyddyn Castell Bed and Breakfast.

Tyddyn Castell is a traditional 17th century Welsh farmhouse in the heart of the small rural village of Eglwyswrw. With cosy log fires and a friendly welcome, Tyddyn Castell gives a feeling of warmth and relaxation. Tyddyn is the Welsh name for a small holding or small farm and Castell translates as Castle. It is an appropriate name as the remains of an ancient castle overlooks the rear garden.

The house is furnished to a very high standard and the co-ordinated soft furnishings are elegant and luxurious. A spacious double bedroom and a smaller single room have the exclusive use of the large family bathroom, which is equipped with bath and separate shower cubicle. Guests also have the private use of their own sitting/dining room with digital TV. Here you can enjoy your breakfast or, if the weather is kind, feel free to have breakfast outside on the patio…the choice is yours.
Breakfast is prepared using local produce; bacon and sausages are sourced from local butchers, who specialise in meat from local farms on the Preseli hills; vegetables are from our own garden (whenever possible); and jams and marmalades are home made. Eggs for your breakfast are from our own free-range hens. Vegetarians are easily catered for although prior notice would be appreciated. Packed lunches are also available on request. It should be noted that we do not normally serve evening meals.

There is ample off road parking space. An extensive garden surrounds the house with lawns, streams, an orchard, a vegetable plot, landscaped banks and a private woodland. An abundance of wildlife also inhabits the garden including many wild birds. The highlight of the garden is the wildlife pond surrounded by native flowers. The pond is fed by the ancient and sacred well called ‘Ffynon Fair’ (Mary’s Well) which is a site of historical interest.

Eglwyswrw is on the main A487 and is half way between the pretty market town of Cardigan and the seaside town of Newport, with its large sandy beach and fine dining restaurants. We’re only five miles away from the stunning Pembrokeshire Coastal Path whilst five miles in the other direction takes you into the panoramic Preseli hills.

North Pembrokeshire, with its rugged natural beauty and outstanding wildlife, is a haven for walkers and water sport enthusiasts. The area has many unusual art and craft galleries. Pembrokeshire is steeped in myth and legend with castles and historic sites nearby and there are plenty of opportunities to fish, play golf, and sightsee in the beautiful surrounding countryside and beaches. Many major attractions of the area are within reasonable driving distance from Eglwyswrw.

Then, at the end of your fun-packed day, come back and explore the gardens of Tyddyn Castell and relax in front of the log fire. We offer you stylish accommodation in beautiful surroundings in the heart of Wales.
