In the Name of God Amen. The sixth daye of October in the yeare of oure Lord God one thousand six hundred twenty five, I John Swan at Hingston in the County of Cambridge doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament. Firste I give unto Colasteca my wief one Tenyment late C??enders to hould unto her during her naturall llyfe and after her decease I give the sayd Tenyment unto John Swan the sonne of my brother Edward to hould to him and his heires forever. I give unto the sayd John Swan my Close called Taylors to hould unto him and his heires forever. Uppon condition to paye unto Calasteca my wife four poundes yearelie or quarterlie at fower times in the yeare (That is to saye) at the Nativitie of the Lord God, the Annunciation of of Lady, at ???somer and St Michell the Arch Angell by ??? porcions. And if it shall happen the sayd yearelie rent to be behynde ?? unpayed in part or in all in which the same ought to be payd then I give the sayd Closse called Taylors unto my sayd wife to hould unto her and her heires forever. Item I give unto Calasteca my wife my best Cowe, my best Hogge a Bedstead that was her owne with the featherbed and all other things that do belong unto the same bedd, one cupboard, one table, two chayers, one skinne (?), a busshell, ?? stools, halfe her ???. I give unto her the one halfe of all my pewter and the one half of all my brasse and the one halfe of all my ??? to be equally divided betwene my Executor and she and for them to ??? ??? she will have. Item I give unto my brother Robert and all my other my brothers ande sisters unto either of them fortie shillings to be payde unto them or unto either of them within one yeare and a halfe after my decease except my sister Emme I give unto her five founds of good and lafull money to be payde unto her within sixe months after my decease. Item I give unto Justis Jeppe forty shillings to be payde unto her within six months after my decease. I do also give unto her eight pounds of good and lafull money to be payde unto her when that shee accoomplishe the age of one and twenty yeares or at the day of her marriage which come (?) firste. Item whereas my brother William Jeppe is to paye unto me during the tearme of certain yeares yet to come the somme of ten pounds of good and lawful money yearlie my will is that if the sayd William Jeppe will keepe my mother with meats, drinke and clothing during her naturall life or during the sayd term of years yet unexpired or paye the sayd ten pounds unto her during her lyfe in suche ??? manner and forme as he should have payed it unto me as then my will is that the sayd ten pounds yearlie shall be unto the sayd William and unto his assignes forever. Item my will is if my sayd mother shall happen to overlive the sayd term of years wherein I have given her then pounds yearlie from William Jeppe that then I give unto her six pounds a yeare to hold unto her during her naturall life to be payde unto her by my executor quarterlyt (that is to say) at Christmas, the Annunciation of our Lady, Midsomer and St Michell the Archangell by equall ??? pound. |
