SWAN THE VIKING

The McQueen Clan can be traced back to Viking ancestry on the Isle of Skye. Clan McDonald of Trotternish accepted the Nordic visitors at the end of the 11th Century. Swein or Sween was gaelicized into the name McQueen. And the name was associated with the early McDonald Clan and later accepted as a Sept. Sweyn was a common Norse name and the McSweens are another of this lineage. They held the Castle Sween on Kintyre. A branch of the McQueens moved onto the western shore of Scotland in the Clan Ranald lands of McDonald. When Mora McDonald married the 10th Chief of the Macintoshes in the early 1400's, a branch of McQueens followed her into Macintosh lands on the southern shore of Loch Ness. This McQueen family was given lands in the Findhom Valley and were known as the McQueens of Corriborough, or Clan Revan, named for Reven Mac Mulmor MacAngus who brought this contingent to eastern Scotland. The McQueens are an associated family of the Clan Chattan Confederation, or the Clan of the Cat and this tartan background is the tartan of the Corribourough McQueen family.

The Crest Badge for the McQueen Clan is the Rampant Ermine Wolf holding a Red Arrow downwards, surrounded by the Clan belt with the Clan motto, Constant and Faithful

The Plant Badge for the McQueen Clan is the Boxwood or Red Whortleberry
