In the name of God Amen. The four and twentieth day of October Anno Domini One thousand six hundred and twenty five. I William Swan of Ashdon, in the county of Essex, Yeoman being in good and perfect health thanks be to God therefore do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First I commend my soul to God hoping to be saved through him, his mercy and the merits of Jesus Christ my redeemer, and my body to be buried in a Christian burial at the discretion of my executrix hereafter nominated. And as to the disposition of all my worldly goods my mind and will is as hereafter following. Item. I give and bequeath to Robert Swan my eldest son the sum of five pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid to the said Robert by Joane my wife within one half year of my death. Item. I give and bequeath to Thomas Swan my second son the sum of five pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid to the said Thomas by Joane my wife within one year of my death. Item. I give and bequeath to Anne my daughter now the wife of William Quy the sum of ten shillings of good and lawful money of England to be paid to the said Anne by Joane my wife within one half year of my death. Item. I give and bequeath to Mary my daughter now the wife of Richard Dorsley? the sum of ten shillings of good and lawful money of England to be paid to the said Mary by Joane my wife within one half year of my death. Item, I give and bequeath to Martha my daughter the sum of twenty pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid to the said Martha by Joane my wife on the day of her marriage or if she does not marry with the consent and good ?????? of Joane my wife first h??? and obtained in writing under the hand of the said Joane or if the said Martha does refrain from marriage until she shall accomplish the age of six and twenty years, my will is that the said sum of twenty pounds shall be then paid unto her by Joans my wife. Item, All the rest of my goods and chattels wheresoever and whatsoever I give unto Joane my wife whom I hereby nominate and appoint my sole executrix to see my legacies paid and my funeral expenses discharged and this my last will and testament performed. And I do hereby utterly revoke all former wills and appoint this only as my last will. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this day above written by me William Swan. In the presence of Henry Monde and Thomas Amy.
