Monday 23 May 2011 |
On a very windy day about 14 members of the History Society visited the site of the bone cave at Banwell. Although closed for many years this had been discovered in 1824 and was found to contain the bones of many animals that had been washed in during the Pleistocene Period. At the time they were thought to be evidence of Noah's flood. |

In common with many places throughout the country many Beercrocombe residents enjoyed a party to celebrate the Royal Wedding on this day. Mugs were presented to those of school age while the more senior enjoyed the toast to the happy couple and tea in the churchyard. |

Sunday 26 December 2010 (Boxing Day) |
Following the coldest night for many years in Beercrocombe the Mummers came to visit us to perform. Many villagers and visitors turned up to watch a traditional performance featuring the death and rebirth of St George representing the summer. The serving of mulled wine helped us to cope with the sub-zero temperatures.

The 'clear-up' day at St James was dry and this encouraged about 16 members of the village to come and work in the Church and Churchyard to smarten things up and to maintain the fabric. The picture shows just some of those who helped. |

Monday 28 June 2010 |
The History Society's second visit this year was to the site of the last battle on English soil. This was the battle of Sedgemoor near Weston Zoyland and proved to be very interesting. The course of the battle was very well explained by Malcolm Hayes. We also visited the Sedgemoor Inn before and afterwards.
