Village Artists are a group of artists working in the Cairngorm National Park, producing
a range of artworks at our weekly meeting in Dulnain Bridge Village Hall. Our members
live in the villages in Strathspey, within the Cairngorm National Park and work
with a tutor at our Tuesday afternoon session throughout the year, stopping only
for Christmas and New year holidays. Our artists paint in pastel, watercolour, oil
and acrylic and cover many subjects. The beautiful surroundings of the area of the
Cairngorm National Park are a great influence on the work of our artists using the
wildlife and landscape to stimulate their enthusiasm to produce works of art. At
regular intervals throughout the year we have visiting tutors to provide workshops
in order to extend our skills. We have been in existence for 9 years and have been,
for most of that time, self supporting. However, we have had the privilege of receiving
help from the lottery fund to provide help to visit art galleries outwith the area
and to help with costs connected with workshops. Each summer and autumn we have
held exhibitions of our work which have been very successful. This provides an
opportunity for the local people of Strathspey to see what we are doing and also
to consider joining our group. The group is run by a committee of eight and whilst
we enjoy the artistic atmosphere for our members, we also bring some entertainment
for the population of Strathspey.
A weekly meeting.
Some members are painting while others are discussing finished paintings on display.
