Moroccan Hashish

Three Moroccan Polm 8ths

Moroccan Slate - (commercial 125g Bar during cutting)

Moroccan Black - (high quality)

Moroccan Polm - (high quality 100g Bar)

Moroccan hash is often called by many other names, usually incorrectly. Kif;- Traditionally loose resins are mixed with a local illegal black tobacco at a ratio of 2:1 & this is smoked in a long stemmed one hit clay or soap stone bowl pipe called a sebsi.

Polm, not pollen, is the golden coloured pressed hashish of various quality.

Soap Bar (Peasant Bar, Kak Bar) - contains some third quality resins but is made up to weight with donkey shit, rubber, henna, coffee grounds & anything else that may comes to hand. This is not really hashish, but poison.

Moroccan hash is made via the same sieved method as Afghani hash, which is not so suprising considering that the method was taught to Moroccans by a traveller called Billy Badman around 1965 (see R.C. Clarke 'Hashish'). Morocco did not produce hashish before the 1960's. Commercial hash production did not begin until 1967.

After the first sieving, the cannais is placed under a plastic sheet & is beaten with a stick to further dislodge resins. Subsequent beatings become heavier with less resins being produced & with more bits of plant material dropping through.

Generally comes in two sized bars, 250g & 500g, and is usually pressed in cloth bags. Lower quality is warmed with steam before pressing unlike low quality Moroccan or Afghani which often requires heat & a high pressure hydraulic jack press.
