Portrait Requirements
Tutorial by NomadicTrooperGirl

These are the basic requirements for your portrait to be able to fit into the game. These requirements are game restrictions.

1) Portrait size
2) Palette
3) Mouth/eye frames
4) Mini portrait size

1) Your portrait must fit into the grey area. Below are examples of how a portrait is split up, first with an example of a portrait and second with numbered coloured areas.

2) Your palette (your portrait's colours) should contain no more than 16 colours (including the background colour). Below is an example of my simple portrait's colours, and second is a black and white palette using the maximum amount of colours.

3) The mouth and eye frames for your portrait should be no bigger than 2 x 4 tiles (16 x 32 pixels). In addition, you should know that the data is stored in tiles (8 x 8 pixels) and as well as being under the restricted size, your frame must be within an area of tiles. Below is an example of the frames for my portrait. To the bottom right are enlarged sections, showing the possible areas I could use for my frames.

The number of frames you can have is 2 eye frames, and 7 mouth frames. The eye frames consist of half-open, and closed. The mouth frames consist of open, half-open, closed, smiling open, smiling half-open, smiling closed, and one for the statsheet.

4) Your mini portrait, which is viewed on the map when hovering over a character, can be no bigger than 32 x 32 pixels (4 x 4 tiles).
