Warning!

If you have a version of the Speed Camera Overlay from before the point when PocketGPSWorld began hosting it (i.e. earlier than 4.044), you must uninstall that version first using Control Panel -> Add / Remove Programs before proceeding with this installation.

It is not necessary to uninstall a previous version if it is newer than 4.044.

1. Installation

You should have downloaded a .zip file from the PocketGPSWorld website. It should contain 2 files:-

Double-click the .msi file to start the installation process. There are two choices to make:

The first choice is the map type, Standard or iQue.
See the Map Types page for information about the differences between the two. If you install one map type, then subsequently want to try the alternate format, you will need to uninstall the original map first (see section 4 below), then re-run the install process.

The second decision to make is where you would like the maps to be installed.
Choose a suitable folder on your hard-drive. The installation process will create the folder if required.

When the installation process has completed you may use the Garmin MapSource program to view or download the map to your GPSR, as described in the following section.

2. Downloading to your GPS Unit

From within MapSource, select "Safety Cameras UK/Intl x.xxx" from the 'Select a Product' dropdown box, or from the menu, choose 'View -> Switch to Product', then select the 'Safety Cameras UK/Intl x.xxx' map set.

Next, using the Map Selection Tool (from the menu, Tools -> Map), you can then click on the UK map, the European map, or any of the other maps to select them to download to your GPS. If you wish to use other maps on your GPS at the same time (City Navigator, City Select etc.) you must switch to that product in the 'Select a Product' dropdown box, and select those maps in the same way.

When your selections are complete you can then send the maps to the GPS in the usual way.

3. Using the map

Once it has been downloaded to your GPS, the map will behave like any other Garmin map, apart from the fact that it is transparent. This means that any underlying maps will show through. It is sometimes possible for the Safety Camera map to obscure the map behind due to the concentration of POIs. In this situation the "Speed Cameras UK/Intl" map set can usually be "turned off" in the Map Info page of your GPS to see the maps behind. On a Streetpilot 26xx this feature is in the "Map Info" screen. On the eMap it is in the "MapSource Info" screen.

4. Uninstalling the map

You can Uninstall the map from your PC by using the standard Windows Add/Remove Programs screen in Control Panel, or you can double-click the original .MSI file. In either case you will be presented with the choice of uninstalling or repairing the current installation.
