Connecting the former steel-making town of Consett with the coastal city of Sunderland, the 26- mile path follows a gentle incline which once formed part of the old Stanhope & Tyne railway.
As well as providing a vital link in the coast-to-coast (C2C) long distance cycle route, the path is used by local people, for short journeys and leisure.
