Westbury Celtic Youth U9 0 V 3 Warndon Village Cobras 3

Another 9am kick-off! This time at the mist drenched Droitwich Rugby Club. The first ten minutes of the game were quite a tense encounter as both sides played lovely football and contested every ball keenly. The Westbury goalie was on top form, and it was great to see Fraser continuing to play well, this time from a new center back position. The deadlock was finally broken when Seth thread a neat ball into the path of Benn L who took his chance with composure. As a measure of how hard the first half was, there were a lot of red faces and heavy breathing at half-time!

Perhaps the pivotal moment came 5 minutes into the second half. Westbury looked certain to score after a long period of possession when John sprang into action and made a tremendous save. Moments later, Kurtis picked up the ball just inside our half and ran through to make it 2-0. Sam finished the scoring with a few minutes remaining to end the game 3-0.

All credit must go to both sets of players for their excellent work rate. There were relatively few shots from either side on goal, which is a testament to the efforts both sides put in defensively.
