Warndon Rhinos 0 V 1 Kidderminster
Athletic
Warndon Rhinos suffered defeat against
Kidderminster Athletic in the opening round of the Stourport Youth Cup.
Both teams created opportunities in the first half but solid defending
from both sides meant neither team could be separated. Charlie Roberts
and Will Barnes went close on a couple of occasions but the
Kidderminster keeper matched their efforts with some fine saves. Harry
Ewins, Alex Maund and Sean Dayus denied Kidderminster Athletic in the
first half, but minutes into the second half Kidderminster Athletic
scored with a low drive from the edge of the box. The Rhinos looked for
an equaliser and Harvey was unfortunate with a shot
from outside the penalty area. Daniel Payne almost levelled the scores
in the final minutes of the game but his right footed volley went into
the side netting.
Man of the Match: Daniel Payne
Playing in an unfamiliar right midfield
position, Daniels’ work ethic and positional play was very impressive.
