Worcester Colts 0 v 1 Warndon Rhinos
Goals
Scorer: Will Barnes.
Will Barnes struck just after half time to
earn the Rhinos victory over the Colts. In the first half, both teams
created opportunities at goal, the Colts played some good football but
George Cafferkey and Finley Stanley were heroic in defence and kept the
Colts quiet. The Colts best opportunity came from a corner and they were
unlucky not to score from the edge of the box with the ball rattling the
crossbar. The Rhinos were creating plenty of chances too, Will Barnes,
Harvey Groves and Charlie Roberts linked up well to set up Daniel Payne
but his shot went unfortunately wide. The Rhinos were looking dangerous
from corners and Will Barnes was unfortunate not to score with a volley.
In the second half, the Rhinos took
kick-off and a high tempo start resulted in the opening goal of the
match. Jonathan Burman collected the ball in midfield and found Will
Barnes who managed to slot the ball past the keeper with the ball
rolling into the bottom corner. The Colts were looking to level the
scores but Sean made some great saves and the Rhinos worked hard to
maintain their lead. Charlie Roberts made some excellent tackles in the
second half and the Rhinos were unlucky not to score in a three v one
situation. In the dying stages, the Colts were through on goal but Sean
Dayus was on hand to block the ball.
