Scorpions 2, Newtown Sports Juniors 0

After last week's disappointment, the Scorpions responded in fantastic fashion with a well deserved victory over last season's champions Newtown Sports Juniors. Commitment was excellent right from the first whistle, and the dedlock was broken with a beautiful passing move which finished with Jack Morris scoring his 3rd goal in 3 games by firing into the bottom corner. The score could have been more at half time, but some good keeping kept the Scorpions at bay.  The second half saw Newtown start brightly and apply much more pressure, but Scorpions tackling was exemplary. The crucial second goal was scored by James Dolton with 5 minutes left, and then Anton Limlei hit a tremendous shot against the underside of the bar that came down on the line and was grabbed by a thankful goalkeeper. A superb performance, and easily the best result in the 3 yaers the Scorpions have been together.
