In bright late Summer sunshine the Tigers opened their
Division One Mercian Under 11 League programme with a battling losing
performance against promoted side Ombersley Lions. In seasons previous
the Lions had proved to be rather a bogey team to the Tigers belying
their league position to put up strong performances and this match was
no exception from the physically robust Lions.
Sporting their new sponsored strip and under the
excellent coaching eye of Club Chairman Andy White deputising for Jason
the first half score line of three unanswered goals to the opposition
totally flattered the away team who only shaded proceedings to the
break. None of the goals conceded were really attributable to individual
error and the second goal was a speculative long range effort.
The second half was really one way traffic with no real
dropping of heads as the Tigers played the vast majority of the football
in scoring the half's two only goals. The full squad can be pleased with
their efforts when the position looked in terms of the score sheet
precarious at half time and the boys may have considered a draw to be a
fair result.
