WVFC Tigers U11's could not continue their recent winning league form losing heavily in the first round proper of the Under 11's Knock Out Cup competition to a well drilled excellent passing and moving Welland Junior Lions Team.....The Tigers eventually succumbed 1 - 7 in a one sided encounter....Coach Jason Brown's pick of Man of the Match was Cameron Pinches for a brave first half goal keeping performance and positive second half outfield effort......

The Tigers squad was depleted by the absence of Jack Davies and Hayden Lewis so the eight boys all rotated through out the match played in dry blustery conditions, sadly the game as an effective contest was over by half time by which point Welland Junior Lions were four goals to the good with no Tigers reply.

0 - 1 Scored by a well placed and powered cross shot from outside the area when the Tigers midfield did not track back.

0 - 2 The ball was not cleared following pressure and again the midfield did not follow the onward movement of the ball into the Tiger defence.

0 - 3 Best goal of the half, from a Welland goal kick possession was won and three passes later the ball was in the back of the Tigers net.

0 - 4 Passing movement and Tiger non marking allowed the fourth goal and a real mountain to climb in the second half.

Half Time 0 - 4

0 - 5 Jason's half time talk concentrated on the fact that in all four games this season the Tigers were down at the break and to retain shape and "win" the second half. However the pattern was repeated in the fifth goal, possession lost in the Tiger's final third and then no challenges made on three Welland players culminating in a goal.

1 - 5 The one brief glimmer, from the kick off the Tigers passed the ball between three players, Callum Daniels was able to run through unmarked to gain a consolation effort.

1 - 6 Tigers lost possession on the right hand side and were short handed to deal with the attackers.

1 - 7 No pressure on Welland when the ball was not won in midfield.

Full Time 1 - 7 a lesson in passing and movement given by a good Welland team. The Tigers can perhaps improve in the two scheduled league fixtures against the strongest team yet faced this season.
